The Meaning of Reiki
Pronounced “ray key”, it literally means Universal Life Energy. It is what sustains and interconnects all living forms. Reiki is an ancient art of energy healing, rediscovered in the late 1800’s by Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese monk, doctor and educator. He developed the Usui System of Natural Healing – Reiki. Universal Life Energy is within us all, the process of Reiki awakens that ability within us to utilize Universal Life Energy.
Reiki can be used with all living forms.

How it is applied
A gentle hands-on method, disrobing is not required.
The Treatment
A full treatment lasts about 1hr. The client usually lies on a massage table in a comfortable warm and peaceful environment. The head and front of the body are usually treated first, then upon turning over, the back of the body is treated. Hands are gently placed in these positions for 3-5 minutes at a time.
There is NO manipulation- the hands are still.
Reiki can be given in a sitting position if client has difficulty lying down. No special thoughts are required during a session, however you may be asked by the practitioner before commencing to bring to your mind your intention for receiving Reiki. Intention amplifies the process.
What are the responses like?
Response is personal and results determined by the need of the client. Each treatment can feel different. Everyone’s needs are different, so responses can vary. However, most clients feel calmer and more relaxed – balance being restored to the body, mind and spirit. Different sensations are sometimes felt during session, e.g. warmth, coolness, tingling to name a few.

Reiki has no connections to any religions, cults, dogma,or special belief systems.
